The Minneapolis – Penn Ave New Horizon Academy is conveniently located in the Folwell neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, near Lowry and Penn Avenue. Our Minneapolis daycare opened in 2015 and is one of 6 New Horizon Academy schools in Minneapolis. We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, hold a four-star rating from Minnesota Parent Aware, and offer quality early childhood programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-kindergarteners. All of our childcare classrooms utilize an age-appropriate curriculum, which incorporates reading, STEAM, social-emotional learning, and more. My name is Melanie, and I have a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. I have been working with children since I was 16 years old. Growing up in a large family with seven brothers and three sisters, I developed a deep love for education and learning. I want to share that passion with the children in the community where I live and work. I have two amazing kids, Anakin and Delilah, who have grown up at New Horizon Academy.

Our Minneapolis center is open Monday-Friday every day with the exception of nine holidays:
*On Christmas Eve, New Horizon Academy closes at 3:00 p.m.
*If one of these holidays falls on a weekend, it will be observed on either Friday or Monday.
*Our school will remain open during inclement weather to ensure children still have access to quality childcare.
Our Minneapolis school offers both full-time and part-time schedules to accommodate the different needs of our families.

Yes! At New Horizon Academy Minneapolis (Penn Avenue), we have an on-site cook trained in nutrition, USDA guidelines, and proper portions for young children. Our school provides nutritious and nourishing meals every day including breakfast, lunch, and snack.
If your child has a special nutritional need, a food allergy, or requires adaptation to our menu, please alert our school director, and we will partner with your family to create a suitable meal plan.
