The Minneapolis Lake Street New Horizon Academy is conveniently located in the Lyndale neighborhood of South Minneapolis, off Blaisdell Avenue and West Lake Street, and not far from I-35W. Our Minneapolis daycare opened in 2017, is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and holds a four-star rating from Minnesota Parent Aware. Our Minneapolis childcare center has three infant daycare rooms, three toddler daycare rooms, and three preschool and pre-kindergarten rooms. All of our childcare classrooms utilize an age-appropriate curriculum, which incorporates reading, STEAM, social-emotional learning, and more. Awards and Accolades
I originally came to New horizon Academy as a parent looking for childcare for my infant and I ended up finding a passion working as an aide in the infant room. I then furthered my career by becoming a transition teacher, toddler teacher, preschool teacher, and then becoming an assistant director as I expanded my education. After 15 years, I found a calling to change locations where I could better my career and become a school director at our Minneapolis Lake Street location.

What do you like about early childhood?
I love watching all the different milestones be met by children of all ages. Seeing the joy on children’s faces when they did something for the first time is so rewarding.

Our center is dedicated to providing a safe and effective environment for all children to learn and grow. We strive to build strong relationships with our families to create a more inclusive community.

After graduating from Rasmussen University with my associate degree in Early Childhood, I started my career at New Horizon Academy as a preschool teacher. After 11 years as a teacher and going back to school to further my education, I took my current position as an assistant director at Minneapolis – Lake Street. In my spare time, I enjoy doing puzzles or going for hikes with my husband.

My child has been attending the Lake Street New Horizon Academy for a while now, and I couldn’t be happier with the care they receive. The staff are incredibly caring and loving, always ensuring the place is spotless. They engage with the kids and work with them to meet great expectations. It’s comforting to see the same dedicated people every day always coming in with a great attitude. They offer a variety of great activities that promote social skills, teamwork, and individual growth.
This is hands down the best childcare center in South Minneapolis. The teachers are like family to me. I love how they care about not just my son who attends daycare but about my whole family. They are excellent with communication and always follow up. Thank you for all that you do NHA!
If only I had words to describe how amazing this center and its staff has been for my family. We enrolled while my husband was deployed and the support we received was beyond compare. I was lost in the sea of new motherhood, and it was this staff and teachers that helped keep me afloat even on the hardest of days. The amazing people here eased my worry every morning, gave me expert advice, kept me updated on everything, and always gave me peace to know my daughter was taken care of.
