Welcome to the Minneapolis – Downtown East New Horizon Academy! Our daycare and early learning center opened in August 2023 and has since been serving families both living and working downtown with quality childcare and education. Our school is conveniently located off 7th and Portland on the ground level of the Moment Apartments in the downtown east neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Learning programs are available for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, including infant, toddler, preschool, and pre-kindergarten options. Each classroom utilizes a comprehensive curriculum incorporating STEAM, reading, social-emotional learning, motor development, school readiness, and more. Our school is in the process of obtaining NAEYC accreditation and is committed to meeting and exceeding the highest standards of education and care for your child. Awards and Accolades
While I am originally from Stillwater, Minnesota, I enjoy being part of the Minneapolis community. I love boating on the St. Croix River with my partner, Bryan. Although we are now empty nesters, we like to stay busy by being active, attending live concerts, and taking our dog, Blue, on walks. I believe in making the best out of each day for myself and others, always looking for the silver linings.

I have worked with children my entire career, specializing in special education out of college, and then moving into the assistant director position at New Horizon Academy. I love being busy and trying new things, so working in early education is the best combination of both. I couldn’t ask for a better job. When I am not at school, I spend most of my time with friends and family enjoying the outdoors and each other’s company.

I love this place! The teachers and staff are so welcoming and caring. As a first-time daycare parent, I couldn’t have made a better decision than choosing New Horizon Academy. The location and staff at the Downtown East school are amazing! I love the app updates the teachers provide throughout the day. And having Starbucks right next door is an added bonus!
I feel so lucky to have my son go to daycare here. It’s the best decision I have ever made. The staff are so welcoming and kind. The level of care and consideration they have for my son is amazing. The teachers have gone out of their way to have my son feel welcomed and loved. He is learning so much and bringing that knowledge back into our home. He has grown more within the month of him being here than he has in the past year with his previous daycare. This location has set the bar high for childcare, and I now expect nothing less for him.
