The Excelsior, MN New Horizon Academy is conveniently located near the border of Shorewood and Excelsior, right off Highway 7. Our Excelsior daycare opened in 1996, is accredited by the National Association for Young Children, and holds a four-star rating from Minnesota Parent Aware. New Horizon Academy Excelsior has two infant daycare rooms, two toddler daycare rooms, and two preschool and pre-kindergarten rooms. All of our childcare classrooms utilize an age-appropriate curriculum, which incorporates reading, STEAM, social-emotional learning, and more, preparing children for kindergarten and beyond! I love being a part of young children’s growth journey. When they make connections, master new skills, and come up with new ideas, it makes this profession deeply fulfilling. The daily hugs and hilarious conversations are the best part!

We are a smaller school with 6 classrooms, which has created a strong school family between all the teachers and children/families.

Hi! My name is Bailey White, and I am the Assistant Director here at New Horizon Academy Shorewood. I started at New Horizon Academy in the Spring of 2023, but I have been working in early childhood education for over 9 years! I currently live in Hutchinson with my boyfriend, Kris, and our puppy, Luna. In my free time I love to spend time with my 7 nieces and nephew. In the summertime we are always exploring new parks in the area!

Our Excelsior early childhood center is open Monday-Friday every day with the exception of nine holidays:
*On Christmas Eve, New Horizon Academy closes at 3:00 p.m.
*If one of these holidays falls on a weekend, it will be observed on either Friday or Monday.
*Our school will remain open during inclement weather to ensure children still have access to quality childcare.
Our Excelsior school offers both full-time and part-time schedules to accommodate the different needs of our families.

Yes! At New Horizon Academy Excelsior, we have an on-site cook trained in nutrition, USDA guidelines, and proper portions for young children. Our school provides nutritious and nourishing meals every day including breakfast, lunch, and snack. All meals are included in the cost of tuition.
If your child has a special nutritional need, a food allergy, or requires adaptation to our menu, please alert our school director, and we will partner with your family to create a suitable meal plan.
