An Extension of Our Village

When we built our home over 6 years ago, we had to find a new daycare. Working parents probably know the flurry of emotions that come with trying to find the right place for your tiny humans. Because when you do—it stops being just daycare. It becomes an extension of your village.
Connor was just 15 months old when he started at New Horizon Academy. He’s now 7 and today, I checked him out for the last time.
Over six years of drop-offs and pick-ups.
Over six years of being nurtured, supported, taught, challenged, celebrated, and loved by the incredible teachers at NHA. From the toddler room to preschool to after-school and summer care, NHA has been a constant in our lives—and a core part of the village that’s helped shape Connor into the incredible kid he is today.
As a mom, there can be so much guilt around daycare. But I’ve come to believe that doing what’s best for your child and what’s best for you can coexist. My boys have grown in ways I couldn’t have given them alone—through friendships, structure, play, and endless learning. And knowing they were deeply cared for while I poured into other parts of myself helped ease the weight of that guilt.
I’m endlessly grateful for the New Horizon Academy team, and so glad it’s not goodbye yet—our youngest still has a few more years to go!
